Good news may be on the horizon for Hitchhiker fifth wheel fans. The word on the Nu Wa Owners forum on the internet is that the company is going to make a comeback. In a post yesterday on the forum, the company’s CEO, Mike Mitchell, said they have developed a new business model and will resume production in June. Some speculate the announcement is just a way to sell off leftover inventory that is now “orphaned,” but I guess we’ll know for sure in a few months. With all of the doom and gloom in the RV industry today, if Mitchell’s announcement is indeed correct, maybe Nu Wa will be the first, and other manufacturers will also be resurrected.

Last month I wrote in a blog post that Terry and I have been talking about replacing our faithful MCI bus conversion with something a bit newer and with more living space inside. As I said in that post, the bus still has a lot of life left in it, but for someone who puts on the miles we do every year, it’s time to move up.

Since then we have done a lot of talking, looked around a lot, and have found an excellent deal on a beautiful one owner Holiday Rambler Endeavor diesel pusher. We also have a potential buyer interested in our bus, so we’re juggling a lot of balls at the same time right now. No money has changed hands on either coach as of yet, and we still have to finagle some creative financing for a short time if the bus does sell, so nothing is set in concrete yet. But stay posted, and we’ll let you know if everything comes together.

Our time here in Tucson has gone by very fast, and we’ll be leaving here in about a week. We feel bad, because several people have invited us to lunch or dinner, or wanted to come by for a visit, and we just have not had the opportunity to get together with them. There never seems to be enough hours in a day. I hope you all will give us a rain check.

Terry has been working hard getting all of the envelopes stuffed with the new issue, so we can drop them off at the mail service in Mesa Monday morning. It’s a monumental task, but one that she will not allow me or anyone else to help with. Each envelope is individually bar coded, and if just one gets out of sequence, everything comes to a screeching halt once they hit the post office.

While she was busy with that, I spent the day working on my laptop, trying to get used to the smaller keyboard. I have one more web site project that I’m working on and hope to be ready to take live very soon. I’m excited about the response we’ve been getting to my new Todays Hero Blog, and some of the stories you folks have submitted reaffirms my faith in mankind. There sure are a lot of wonderful people out there, and I feel privileged to help share their stories.
